Scenario library

Nursing simulation scenarios that unfold over days.

Four multi-day AI patient cases, written and reviewed by licensed nurses. Each one is scored against a nurse-written rubric.

The MiRA nursing simulation scenario library.

Every case is pilot ready. Faculty assign them from the faculty dashboard.

How each nursing simulation scenario is built.

The same structure in every case, so faculty know what to expect when they assign one.

Prebrief

Objectives and context before the encounter, without cueing the answer.

Multi-day arc

The patient changes from day to day. Decisions carry forward.

Rubric

Required assessments, red flags, escalation points and critical errors, scored per objective.

Debrief

Results and missed cues ready for faculty to use in class.

Written by nurses, refined in pilot use.

Each scenario starts as a full clinical chart: vitals, labs, orders and medications for every simulated day, plus a patient personality that shapes how symptoms come out in conversation. A stoic patient underreports pain. An anxious one over-explains. Students learn to read the person as well as the numbers.

More than 30 licensed nurses wrote, reviewed and tested MiRA scenarios in July and August 2026. Each case is mapped to the steps of the NCSBN clinical judgment model and to relevant AACN Essentials domains before it reaches a learner.

MiRA's clinical team reviews every case each term and updates it when the practice guidelines behind it change.

Scenario questions

What nursing simulation scenarios does MiRA offer?

MiRA currently offers four multi-day med-surg cases: sepsis from pneumonia, post-op hip replacement, post-appendectomy and post-cholecystectomy discharge teaching. Chest pain, fall risk and respiratory distress are in development, with pilot partners helping set the order.

How long does a scenario take a student?

Each simulated day is a short voice encounter, so students can complete a day in one sitting. Faculty decide how many days to assign per week. A full case runs four to ten simulated days.

What level of student are the scenarios written for?

The current cases are med-surg scenarios suited to students who have started acute care coursework. Faculty choose which cases and days to assign based on where students are in the program.

Can we request a scenario for our curriculum?

Yes. Pilot partners help decide which cases MiRA builds next. Tell us the conditions and objectives your course covers when you request a demo.

Can students repeat a scenario?

Yes. Faculty can reassign a case or a single day, for example after a debrief or when a critical safety error requires remediation and a repeat attempt.
